The course provides candidates with the skills necessary to prepare and examine operators for the working environments of lift trucks. Candidates will understand how to do this in accordance with agreed best practice.

By the end of the course candidates will:

• Be able to recall and discuss relevant legislation
• Be aware of the codes of practice relating to lift truck operation
• Be able to plan, prepare and deliver lift truck training to the RTITB standard

The Lift Truck Instructor course concludes with an objective examination carried out by an RTITB examiner. All elements of the examination must be passed in order to successfully qualify as an RTITB instructor. Achieving an RTITB instructor qualification is something to be truly proud of. Successful candidates are eligible to register on the RTITB Register of Professional Instructors.

To pass this course you will need to pass an examination consisting of three elements:
1. Basic operating skills test on a counterbalance lift truck and pass to instructor standard on the first day of the course (maximum 25 penalties allowed). This test also requires the candidate to undertake both the Associated Knowledge element of the Operator test and also the Pre-Use Inspection test. (A suitable period of truck familiarisation will be provided prior to the tests being conducted)
2. Associated Knowledge, multiple choice theory paper (Pass mark is 80%)
3. Practical Instructional Ability, deliver a session of no more than 40 minutes in length covering a basic operating skill (Pass mark is 70 out of a possible 100)
This course is suitable to candidates who:

• Have proof of successfully completing the Counterbalance Basic Operating Skills Test within the last 12 months
• Have significant experience as a counterbalance operator, we recommmend an absolute minimum of 6 months
• Have good communication skills
• Have the confidence to present to large and small groups of their peers

Lift Truck Instructor Initial

A course for experienced forklift operators who wish to deliver forklift operator training who have not been formally trained as an instructor before. The Lift Truck Instructor course provides candidates with interactive guided theory, discussion and practice. It prepares candidates to cater for the needs of their learners both in and out of the training room.

Lift Truck Instructor 3 day- Re-reg or Conversion

A course for currently qualified/recently expired (within the last 12 months) RTITB lift truck instructors who need to refresh their qualification and renew their registration.

This course is also available to ITSSAR, AITT and NPORS instructors wishing to convert to an RTITB qualification.

This course is only suitable for very experienced, highly competent instructors as the course does not include any remedial/refresher training time.

Lift Truck Instructor 5 day- Re-Reg or Conversion

A course for currently qualified/recently expired (within the last 12 months) RTITB lift truck instructors who need to refresh their qualification and renew their registration who feel they need remedial/refresher training in order to reach examination standard.

This course is also available for those with the following qualifications. Please note this course is not suitable for holders of in-house instructor qualfications. Holders of in-house instructor qualifications need to complete the inital course

Our Lift Truck Instructor course can be delivered on your premises, subject to meeting the facilities criteria, which can be found here. We run these courses on request on dates to suit your business. Our prices are based on a day rate and not per candidate.
